Notes for Ranger Events
1. The duration of the excursions is approximate. Actual length will depend upon weather and inclination of the group, starting times will be closely adhered to.
If excursions span the lunch hour, please bring a packed lunch.
2. In general, walking will be on unsurfaced tracks and people are asked to come adequately shod and clothed against weather.
Wellingtons are advisable for shore and pond excursions.
3. On Children's Events parents are encouraged to leave their children in the care of the Ranger staff. Involvement of the child is the object of these outings. Children must be six years old or over to comply with the Children's Act regulations.
4. Organised parties requiring guided walks should contact the Reservations Secretary to make special arrangements. It is impracticable for such parties to join the advertised walks.
5. The Principal reserves the right to cancel any walk or excursion in the event of unfavourable weather. Additions may be made to the programme when the demand arises and these will be advertised in the local press and at the Visitor Centre. If the number of people joining a special excursion in the Park is too large for the Rangers available then at the discretion of the Principal the walk may be repeated.
6. The Principal reserves the right to close the doors when the lecture theatre is full.
