Culzean Events 2004

Events Information

Guided Walks

These will start from the Visitor Centre Courtyard at times indicated. The content and route of the walk will vary with the interest of the Rangers, the season and individual visitors, but will tend to be of a general nature unless otherwise requested. They will last approximately one hour. All walks are free.

Guided Tours of Castle

The Castle is open to visitors 1000 - 1700 daily (last entry 1600). A daily guided tour, lasting one hour, is available at 1530 (plus 1100 in July - September). Individuals only, numbers limited to 20 on a first come, first served basis. No extra charge. Meet at Castle Front Door.

Culzean Arts Guild Concerts and Recitals

Tickets available from Culzean Castle, Maybole. Please send SAE and cheque, payable to The National Trust for Scotland.

Hire Culzean as an Historic Setting for your Special Occasion

The Castle provides a gracious setting for special occasions - weddings, banquets, receptions and dinners. The Eisenhower Apartment, formerly General Eisenhower's holiday home in Scotland, is available for residential guest lettings for up to 12 people. An ideal place also for smaller board meetings, luncheon and dinner parties.

The Events Field, approximately 17 acres of established turf, adjacent to the Visitor Centre, offers an excellent facility for special events, rallies and other outdoor occasions.

The Visitor Centre restaurant can seat up to 100 for a function. Wedding receptions, private parties, dinner-dances or banquets can be arranged out of normal opening hours.

Notes for Ranger Events

1. The duration of the excursions is approximate. Actual length will depend upon weather and inclination of the group, starting times will be closely adhered to.
If excursions span the lunch hour, please bring a packed lunch.
2. In general, walking will be on unsurfaced tracks and people are asked to come adequately shod and clothed against weather.
Wellingtons are advisable for shore and pond excursions.
3. On Children's Events parents are encouraged to leave their children in the care of the Ranger staff. Involvement of the child is the object of these outings. Children must be six years old or over to comply with the Children's Act regulations.
4. Organised parties requiring guided walks should contact the Reservations Secretary to make special arrangements. It is impracticable for such parties to join the advertised walks.
5. The Principal reserves the right to cancel any walk or excursion in the event of unfavourable weather. Additions may be made to the programme when the demand arises and these will be advertised in the local press and at the Visitor Centre. If the number of people joining a special excursion in the Park is too large for the Rangers available then at the discretion of the Principal the walk may be repeated.
6. The Principal reserves the right to close the doors when the lecture theatre is full.
